THE JARGON OF THE COPPERSMITHS IN ISILI

Even the people from Isili seem to be convinced of this, and in subsequent researchers is easy to find oral histories discussing the zingarica descendants of the coppersmiths of Isili and their craft. It's from 1996 the publication of the research by prof. John Trumper, Professor of General Linguistics at the University of Calabria, about the jargon of quadarari of Cosentino, the ammascante. The professor examines the over four hundred lemmas of this speech arriving to exclude a zingarica derivation, because of their numerical inconsistency and also tends to exclude the Albanian derivation (32 lemmas, of 432 basic elements that serve to build almost 600 words). Well of little more than 150 slang terms from Isili, 95 may be directly correlated with the ammascante. Of the remaining sixty words a good part refers to some local dialects, but not connected to the campidanese variant used in Isili, which also forms the syntactic structure of the jargon. It remains only a small fraction of elements that do not find a place in any scheme known so far. This small part of the jargon is semantically distant from the jargon of the coppersmith such as: cherrigollu (ox).
At the present state of things we tend to exclude a derivation of the jargon that is zingarica.
