Isili's copper history

The bronzes coming from the nuragica production are known worldwide, it's not the same for bronze or copper objects intended for eveyday use such as: buckles, bracelets, vases, plates, aphoras. We can easily notice the roman influences observing the objects found next to Nuragic sites from that age, utensils and containers are much more similar to the ones we use nowadays.

The favourite metal destined for the tableware by the romans was the silver. But next to it we can also find copper objects. The production tecnique is the same inherited from the predecessors: the cold hammering of copper foils and the melting into molds, or matrices with two separate halves.
Another clue that reveals a strong metallurgical activity, is the fact that the only two collegiate (corporations ante litteram) in Sardinia during the imperial period were those of navicularii and metallarii.
