Isili's copper history

At the end of the year 1833 is given to the press the first volume of the geographical-historical-statistical Dictionary of the States of S.M. the king of Sardinia, compiled by the priest Goffredo Casalis. The Scolopian priest Vittorio Angius took care of the part regarding our island. In this dictionary we can discover that in Sassari there where twelve coppersmiths and eighteen ottonai, and it continues

"..in certain times appear those coppersmithd from Calabria that wander in all countries offering their art to who is in need."

In Cagliari we find nine coppersmiths and eighteen ottonai. There are reports of coppersmiths in Ozieri and Temple, but the most interesting annotations concern Scanu Montiferru e Gadoni.
About Scanu we find:

"...those work for their village and for others places,...the tinkers are their usual work."
